Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has ordered the first batch of humanitarian aid to be sent to the Gaza Strip, which will be delivered via Egypt, Turkiye's A-Haber TV reported.

He indicated that an airplane carrying aid is already on its way.

The humanitarian aid is expected to be delivered through the Rafah crossing, which is located on the border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.

The delivery of the aid was jointly organised by the Turkish humanitarian organisation IHH, the Red Crescent, the Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate.

The airplane from Turkiye will land at Egypt's El-Arish Airport. As the Rafah border crossing is currently not open, the aid will be stored on site near the crossing. Should it be opened, the aid will be delivered.

According to A-Haber, the aid includes various items, including one thousand boxes of food and 5,000 blankets.
