The minimum wage in Romania will become RON 3,300 (BGN 1,320) from October, said Romaian Minister of Finance Marcel Bolos. The increase is RON 300  (BGN 120). There will probably be another increase from January 1 next year.

in an interview with Romanian television Antena3, Bolos said that it all depends on how things develop at the coalition level and how the discussions proceed, but that there is  commitment that the parties have made, including through the governance programme that was approved when the Ciolacu  government began its mandate.

Bolos confirmed that pensions will also increase by 14% from the beginning of 2023.

"There is money to increase pensions. The final percentage will be announced by the ruling coalition," Bolos said. He also informed that special pensions will be taxed at 20-25%.

The news of the increase in pensions was confirmed later in the day by the Romanian Prime Minister, Marcel Ciolacu. He commented that there is a law in force according to which pensions are indexed to last year's inflation.

"In 2022, we made an exception because there was high inflation compared to the inflation a year earlier,” commented the Prime Minister noting that he wishes that, like last year, that pensions would increase differently, for some perhaps by 30%, for others by or 10% , depending on income. “I support this approach", said Ciolacu, quoted by Digi24.
