site.btaCabinet Moves for Ratification of Agreement with ECO for Participation in Emergency Response Directory

At its regular meeting on Wednesday, the Government adopted a decision to propose to the National Assembly the ratification of the Agreement on Participation in the Directory containing contact details of Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP-DIR). The document between the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Bulgaria, represented by the National System 112 Directorate, the designated emergency call answering centre for the Republic of Bulgaria, and the European Communications Office (ECO) was signed in Sofia on April 7, 2020 and in Copenhagen on July 22, 2020.

The agreement concerns the use of a service provided by ECO. This service consists of the preparation, maintenance and making available for use of a directory containing the contact details of the national emergency call centres of the countries which are members of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations.

The purpose of the Directory is to provide operational assistance and facilitate emergency call centres in communicating with each other when needed, e.g. when cross-border assistance is needed to deal with an emergency.
