President Rumen Radev signed a decree scheduling the elections for mayors and municipal councilors for October 29, 2023, the Presidency said.

Radev set the date after holding a working meeting with representatives of the Central Election Commission (CEC) leadership. The specifics of the local elections and the upcoming work on the organization of the electoral process were discussed. The CEC officials briefed the President on the technical and logistical specifics that the Commission has to take into account for the local elections and its readiness to conduct them.
