During a specialized police operation carried out throughout Bulgaria over the past 24 hours under the guidance of the Prosecution office, 44 pre-trial proceedings were initiated for crimes related to the production, distribution and trafficking of narcotic substances, the Prosecution office said Friday.
A total of 62 people have been detained.
A large part of the specialized police operations, currently 169 in total, were conducted in areas of educational institutions and kindergartens. Checks were carried out on 618 people, 364 school districts, 395 drug dens, drinking and entertainment establishments were inspected.
So far, 4.5 kg of amphetamine, 3.2 kg of marijuana, 32 kg of cannabis and 100 kg of cannabis plant stalks, 1,000 ecstasy tablets, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine and designer drugs, 4.5 litres of liquid - according to initial data precursors - have been seized as part of police actions, a drug greenhouse in Pernik has also been uncovered.
