Parliament adopted rules of procedure for the nomination of a candidate for Deputy governor - head of the Banking Department and a candidate for Deputy governor - head of the Issuance Department of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB), the submission and public disclosure of the documents and the hearing of the candidates in the Budget and Finance Committee, as well as the procedure for election by the National Assembly. 145 MPs from GERB-UDF, Continue the Change -Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) and the Movement for Rights and Freedom (MRF) voted in favour of the decision, while 66 from Vazrazhdane, BSP for Bulgaria and There is Such a People (TISP) voted against.

The Parliament decided that proposals for Deputy governor candidates are to be submitted in writing by the BNB governor to the Budget committee within three days of the decision to elect the BNB governor. A candidate who has received more than half of the votes of the MPs present is deemed elected in the plenary vote. If a candidate does not receive the required votes, the National Assembly adopts a decision to open a new election procedure, the rules stipulate.

A procedure is underway to elect a new BNB governor. Currently there are three candidates - the current governor Dimitar Radev, proposed by GERB-UDF; Lyubomir Hristov, proposed by Vazrazhdane; and Nikolay Kavardzhikliev, proposed by BSP for Bulgaria. They are expected be heard by the Budget committee.
