Troubles with infrastructure, waste management, parking, and landslides continue to obstruct the work of Bulgarian Black Sea resorts on the north coast. This transpires from a hearing of representatives of the Golden Sands AD, Sts Constantine and Helena Holding AD, and Albena AD at the parliamentary Tourism Committee on Thursday. The hearing was on the topic of prospects and challenges concerning the summer tourist season on the north Black Sea coast.

Due to the latest events in Ukraine, the Albena resort has experienced booking cancellations, said Ventsislav Rangelov, head of External Relations and Logistics at Albena AD. "For us it would be a challenge and heroism if we remain above water by the end of the season in the present conditions and if no attention is paid to us and no help is provided to us," Rangelov added.

Representatives of Sts Constantine and Helena Holding AD said they are not sure the season will be as successful as the company forecast in early 2023. Miroslava Malcheva said that they currently do not have data of mass cancellations in the holding's hotels brought about by the situation with the sea water quality. There is no need of such an artificially created problem, she added. The holding thanked institutions for providing information about the sea water quality on a daily basis.

Emil Minchev of Golden Sands AD put an emphasis on infrastructural and waste management problems.
