Belgium is one of Bulgaria's traditional and important trading partners, and Belgian companies are among the leading investors in Bulgaria, with Belgian investments here amounting to over EUR 2.6 billion, Economy and Industry Minister Bogdan Bogdanov said here on Thursday, quoted by his ministry. He was speaking at the opening of the traditional Days of Belgium in Bulgaria.
The event was also attended by Belgian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Frederic Morris, and representatives of the Belgium-Bulgaria-Luxembourg Business Club.
Bogdanov highlighted the good relations between the two countries as a prerequisite for further development of the potential and economic cooperation with Belgium. He announced that in 2022, the trade turnover with Belgium amounted to just over EUR 2 billion, an increase of 6.8% compared to the previous year 2021. Then, in the first quarter of this year alone, trade turnover with Belgium continued to grow and reached EUR 675.6 million, which is proof of the continued development of bilateral trade relations, he added.
more and more companies choose Bulgaria as an investment destination and Belgian companies are among the most active in developing new products and innovations. "We will continue the active dialogue with investors, businesses and chambers of commerce," the Minister of Economy and Industry further stressed.
The Days of Belgium in Bulgaria mark the successful relations between the two countries. They are organised annually by the Embassy of Belgium and the Belgium-Bulgaria-Luxembourg Business Club.
