Bulgarian Hornist Teodosiev Wins 2023 Ohrid Pearls International Competition for Young Musicians

Bulgarian musician Victor Teodosiev won the 2023 grand prix Ohrid Pearls playing the French horn, the competition organizers reported on Sunday. This year's classical music competition included performers from Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkiye and North Macedonia.

The competition Ohrid Pearls was established in 2002.

The jury in 2023 was comprised of musicians and teachers of flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, trumpet and French horn from several European music academies as well as from the Faculty of Music in Skopje.

Teodosiev's first place won him EUR 1,500 as well as a golden plaque. Polish clarinettist Tomasz Grzebien won second place and EUR 1,000, while third place and EUR 500 went to Serbian flutist Irena Panic.

Ohrid Pearls takes place under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Mayor of Ohrid Municipality.
