The 25th National Meeting of Financiers from Bulgarian Municipalities organized by the National Public Development Association was held at the Golden Sands Black Sea resort and focused on the advantages and challenges Bulgaria faces at the euro changeover as a national currency.

The experience of each state participating in the euro-zone is important to Bulgaria, for it bears important information about the process of euro changeover and the real effects on the economy of the respective country, said Nina Stoyanova, Deputy Governor and Head of the Banking Department of the Bulgarian National Bank.

The Central Bank Deputy Governor recalled that Bulgaria frequently hosts broadly attended events dedicated to discussing euro-changeover matters with the active participation of the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria. The most recent event of this kind was held on May 9, a discussion on the role of organised civil society in the process of Bulgaria's accession to the euro area organized by the Economic and Social Council, a national consultative body expressing the will of civil society structures on matters of economic and social development. On Tuesday, Sofia will host a similar forum organized by the Union for Private Economic Enterprise on the subject of Eurozone: Advantages and Challenges, Stoyanova added.

To promote awareness on the subject of the euro, the websites of both the Finance Ministry and the Bulgarian National Bank both already feature information materials with questions and answers on the subject.
