Deputy Transport Minister Attends International Transport Forum in Leipzig

Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Nikolay Naydenov took part in the International Transport Forum on May 24-26 in Leipzig, Germany. The main objective of the forum is to develop successful transport policies that will improve the way of life, and to promote the role of transport economically, with the environment in mind, the ministry's press office said on Friday.

Deputy Minister Naydenov expressed Bulgaria's readiness to continue working on the main priorities set in the international transport system.

"To achieve sustainable mobility and high efficiency, efforts should be focused on overcoming the main challenges to the development of the sector, through modernisation, implementation of intelligent transport systems, increasing the competitiveness of transport companies and limiting the harmful impact on the environment," Naydenov said.

The International Transport Forum (ITF) is an intergovernmental organisation covering all modes of transport. Every year the organisation holds a summit of transport ministers. During the Leipzig forum, the membership of Brazil and Costa Rica was approved, bringing the number of ITF member states to sixty-six.
