Bulgarian speech was heard in the Romanian Parliament on Tuesday. Addressing the legislature, Chamber of Deputies Member Gheorghe Nacov, who is the voice of the Bulgarian minority in Romania, greeted his fellow lawmakers and the Bulgarian Ambassador to Romania Radko Vlaykov on the occasion of May 24, the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and of the Slavonic Script and Bulgarian Language Day in Romania.

"Happy Letters Day!", Nacov said in Bulgarian. He recalled that, besides a common historical destiny and Orthodox religion, the Cyrillic alphabet has also long linked the two nations.

"Bulgarians in Romania feel privileged to live in this country. Not only because we are supported by the Romanian State but also because we found a real home when we arrived here," the MP said in his speech. He described Romania as a world leader when it comes to guaranteeing the rights of national minorities.

In the foyer in front of the hall, with the assistance of the Bulgarian Embassy in Bucharest, an exhibition titled "St Clement of Ohrid: Disciple and Enlightener" of the State Cultural Institute and the Elena and Ivan Dujcev Foundation. It includes 23 posters and marks the 1100th anniversary of the demise of St Clement of Ohrid. The anniversary was included in the UNESCO calendar for 2016.

The exposition, presenting the image of St Clement of Ohrid as a disciple of Sts Cyril and Methodius Equal Apostles and an enlightener of the Bulgarians, highlights the Bulgarian and pan-Slavic cultural and historical perspective of Clement's literary works.
