GERB leader Boyko Borissov told journalists here on Friday that "we will start meetings with the rest of the parties from tomorrow."

He talked to the media after a meeting with the leaders of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) at which the two largest parliamentary groups discussed possible support for a cabinet formed on the first mandate that will go to GERB-UDF on May 15.

He did not specify whether the talks will be held at the leader or expert level. "The talks will be such as to give a clear answer to the questions," he said.

In his opinion, Friday's debate between the two coalitions was useful.

"The arguments are on the side of the Euro-Atlantic community. There are benefits because power-holders and opposition carry equal weight in a strong state. For 12 years our problem was the lack of opposition," he said, referring to the 2017-2021 period during which GERB was the dominant ruling party. "Now, no matter what happens, there is a strong opposition in Parliament: from the Left, through Vazrazhdane, to the Right - CC-DB," Borissov said.

"If we reach agreement with them on shared responsibility, on joint governance for a short period of time so as to adopt a budget and unblock the EU funds, as well as everything we talk about, with the support pledged by the second-largest political force, we can very quickly catch up on the lag," the GERB leader added.

Borissov assured the media that if Mariya Gabriel is elected to head a cabinet she will be taking all the decisions by herself.

He asserted that the gentleman's agreement with CC-DB will be honoured and the second largest parliamentary group will designate a chair of the parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee.

Regarding the proposal by members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) Prosecutors Chamber for the early release of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, Borissov commented: "The particular individual is irrelevant. What is only relevant is the adoption of the laws ensuring control over the prosecutor general."

The GERB leader said further that he does not know the names of the SJC members.
