The Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovachevski, intends to meet with the CEO of the state-owned MRT TV operator to find out what agreements it has for broadcast of its programmes abroad. This transpired as Kovachevski took a reporter's question here Tuesday.

According to Kovachevski, MRT and Bulgarian National Television (BNT) have an agreement that allows each to broadcast its programmes on the territory of the other country. The problem is that the agreement for relaying the MRT signal was discontinued a while ago.

The leader of the government in Skopje said that he had spoken to the competent authorities in the media sector and now plans to meet with the MRT director as well.

"We also need to see whether there is an opportunity for the MRT signal to reach other countries as well, so that our people can watch it from abroad," Kovachevski said.

Taking a reporter's question a few days ago, Prime Minister Kovachevski said he would ask the Bulgarian authorities why the MRT programme cannot show in Bulgaria, while BNT4 can be watched in the Republic of North Macedonia.
