Recreation Purposes Down by 23.3%
in October Y/Y


Sofia, November 27 (BTA) - The visits by foreigners to Bulgaria
in October 2014 totalled 557,100, up by 1.9 per cent from
October 2013, the National Statistical Institute said Thursday.
A decrease was registered in the visits with holiday and
recreation purposes and with professional purpose - by 23.3 and
7.8 per cent, respectively, while the visits with other purposes
saw an increase of 30.8 per cent.

The trips of Bulgarians abroad in October 2014 were 300,900,
which is a decrease of 1.8 per cent compared to the same month
of 2013. The trips with other purposes (as guest, for education
and to attend cultural and sport events) constituted the
greatest share of the total number of trips of Bulgarian
residents abroad, 41.1 per cent, followed by the trips with
holiday and recreation purposes, 33.4 per cent, and with
professional purpose, 25.5 per cent. Compared to October 2013,
the trips with holiday and recreation purposes and with
professional purpose went up by 60.8 and 5 per cent,
respectively, while the trips with other purposes decreased by
27.7 per cent.

In October 2014, 56.8 per cent of the trips to the UK and 54 per
cent of the trips to Germany were with other purposes, 37.5 per
cent of the trips to Italy were with professional purpose, and
56.1 and 49.7 per cent of the trips to Spain and Greece,
respectively, were with holiday and recreation purposes.

The visits of EU citizens constituted the greatest relative
share of the total number of foreigners' visits to Bulgaria in
October this year, 54.2 per cent, increasing by 0.2 per cent
from the like period of 2013. The visits of foreigners from
non-EU European countries went up by 0.7 per cent, with the most
significant increase being in the number of visits from
Serbians, 3.5 per cent.
