Bulgaria Sends Commissioner Sevcovic Proposal to Develop Gas Hub

Sofia, December 12 (BTA) - Bulgaria has sent European
Commissioner for Energy Union Maros Sevcovic a letter proposing
the development of a gas hub, Deputy Prime Minister for European
Funds and Economic Policy Tomislav Donchev said Friday. The
letter features the idea of a gas hub commented at last
Wednesday's meeting of the Council of Ministers.

"We consider this a very good proposal, entirely in the context
of the emerging energy union," Donchev said, specifying that
actually this is not South Stream 2 or 3, but follows an
entirely different logic, inasmuch as there are no plans for the
construction of a European route, at least not the way it was
designed so far.

Donchev underscored that the gas hub - if it is made - will not
be fed only though a pipe along the Black Sea bed. He also
specified that numerous talks are forthcoming, primarily with
the EC services, as well as with member-states.

The Deputy PM said such an idea should not be considered doomed
at first glance. Sometimes even strange ideas, unexpected ones,
subsequently prove to be the best and are implemented, Donchev
said. He has invited Sevcovic to visit Bulgaria at his earliest
convenience and to discuss the Bulgarian proposal as soon as
possible.
