Between April and June, the volume of goods transported, as well as the transport work performed by road and water freight transport, decreased by 9.6% and 21.6%, respectively, compared with the same quarter of 2025, according to preliminary data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI).

The number of passengers carried by passenger transport (road, water, and urban electric transport) decreased by 0.6%, while the amount of transport work performed increased by 5.7%.

According to NSI data, in the first quarter of 2026, compared with the same period of the previous year, the volume of goods transported by road and water freight transport increased by 2.3%, while transport work performed rose by 6.7%. The number of passengers carried and the transport work performed by passenger transport increased by 0.6% and 10.4%, respectively.
