site.btaKraimorie Fishing Port Keeps Blue Flag Status

The fishing port in Burgas's Kraimorie Quarter has again been awarded the international Blue Flag eco-label, Burgas Municipality told BTA.

The local authority noted that three fishing ports in Burgas Municipality: Kraimorie, Sarafovo, and Chengene Skele, have received this certification in 2026. 

The Kraimorie Fishing Port has 54 berths, power and water supply, a large parking area, a floating waste collection system, and a new 10-tonne crane for launching, lifting, and moving fishing boats. In recent years, it has been upgraded with four charging stations for electric boats, a solar hot-water system, diving equipment, an additional pontoon, and automated waste collection technology, helping reduce carbon emissions and support electric vessels.

These improvements were financed by a project to modernize the marina and improve safety and working conditions for fishermen. The port went under construction in 2018 and was completed in spring 2019 on EU funding under the Maritime and Fisheries Programme.

Kraimorie has a long fishing tradition and is home to a local fishing association with around 40 members. The port is the second dedicated fishing port in Burgas Municipality, after the one in the Sarafovo Quarter.
