Bulgarian students won one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals at the 8th Balkan Physics Olympiad (BPO 8), held in Istanbul, TUrkiye. This achievement once again confirms Bulgaria's strong performance in the prestigious international competition, the Ministry of Education and Science announced on Thursday.

Miroslav Draganov from the High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in Burgas won a gold medal.

The silver medal was awarded to Nikola Kostov from the Sofia High School of Mathematics.

The bronze medals were won by Boris Pulev from the National High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and Kiril Momchilov from the Sofia High School of Mathematics.

The Balkan Physics Olympiad is one of the few international physics competitions for students under the age of 17. Its aim is to promote interest in science, encourage the development of young talent, and strengthen cooperation among countries in the region.

On June 23, Prime Minister Rumen Radev presented the national flag to Bulgaria's 2026 national teams competing in the international science Olympiads during an official ceremony held at the Council of Ministers.
