The Bulgarian Navy destroyed a drifting drone in the Black Sea seven nautical miles east of the coastal village of Kranevo, the Navy Headquarters in Varna reported on Friday.

The information about the presence of an unmanned aerial vehicle in the sea off Kranevo was submitted earlier in the day by the Border Police Directorate. The reconnaissance of the site was carried out by a rescue ship from the Varna Naval Base. The drone was destroyed on site, as there was a concern about residual explosives. All safety measures were taken during the operation, the Navy press centre reported.

On May 5, a specialized team from the Varna Naval Base carried out a reconnaissance and transport task of an unmanned aerial vehicle found on the beach in Byala, on the Black Sea. A few days earlier, a team from the Burgas Navy Base destroyed the remains of a drone thrown from the sea in the area of ​​the beach, northeast of the Elenite complex.
