site.btaSofia Choristers' Union, BTA Sign Partnership Agreement

The Sofia Choristers' Union Prof. Dr. Adriana Blagoeva signed a long-term partnership agreement with the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) on Friday.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the union by its Board Chair, Alexander Dragovski. It covers the concert activities of the Sofia Men's Choir, which the union represents.

The Union was established in 2025 by former members of the Sofia Boys' Choir at the Tsar Boris III – 1928 Community Centre, together with members of its youth ensemble, both founded by Prof. Dr. Adriana Blagoeva (1960–2025), a distinguished conductor, educator, and public figure. The founders created the organization to carry forward her legacy and preserve and promote the traditions of Bulgarian men's choral singing, support the development of young singers, and encourage the exchange of experience and best practices among choirs. The organization also upholds the artistic and educational principles established by Prof. Blagoeva.

Through its work, the organization is also bringing to life one of Prof. Blagoeva's unfulfilled ambitions, namely the establishment of the Sofia Men's Choir.

Prof. Dr. Hristo Krotev has been invited to serve as conductor of the Sofia Men's Choir. A conductor, composer, educator, he has made significant contributions to the Bulgarian and international choral scene for more than 40 years. He holds a Ph.D. in musicology and is Professor of Music at the American University in Bulgaria. Throughout his career, he has directed numerous choral ensembles and led concert and artistic projects both in Bulgaria and abroad. The choir also works with pianist Zornitsa Getova, who is well known for her long-standing work with the Sofia Boys' Choir, while Yasen Zerdev serves as choirmaster.
