Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova met with German Ambassador Irene Plank on Thursday, the ministry said.

Topping the meeting were advancing cooperation in industry, energy, innovation, and scientific research. Minister Petrova underscored her desire, as well as that of the new Bulgarian government, for a more focused approach in the field of economic diplomacy.

“It is meaningful that Prime Minister Rumen Radev’s first official visit will take place in Germany,” Petrova noted. According to her, this confirms how strong the economic and cultural ties between the two nations are.

During the meeting, current issues on the European agenda were also discussed, including the EU’s multiannual financial framework, regional connectivity, defense cooperation, as well as the EU enlargement process based on the principle of merit and the fulfillment of commitments made.
