site.btaHealth Minister, AmCham Bulgaria Discuss Healthcare System Development
Caretaker Health Minister Michail Okoliyski discussed the development and sustainability of Bulgaria’s healthcare system with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham Bulgaria), the Health Ministry said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
The AmCham Healthcare Committee presented its work, including a report containing analysis and proposals for improving the system, as well as three working groups with specific areas of focus.
The first working group is focused on transparency in the formation and spending of funds, including the budget of the National Health Insurance Fund. The second examines the efficiency of hospital care, while the third explores opportunities for alternative financing of the healthcare system.
The meeting highlighted the need for continued cooperation in introducing innovation in healthcare so that Bulgarian patients can have access to the most modern treatment methods and a high standard of medical care.
AmCham representatives emphasized the importance of effective communication among all stakeholders to achieve good governance and efficient use of public resources.
The Health Ministry said participants also acknowledged the significant amount of work carried out during the caretaker government’s short term, particularly by the Health Ministry team, and expressed hope that the initiated processes would be further developed and sustainable policies continued.
