site.btaContinue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria: Voters Turn Page on GERB and MRF, Say Leaders
The leaders of Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) held a briefing for the media, following the announcement of the first results from polling agencies on the early parliamentary elections.
"Bulgarian citizens came out, voted, and left GERB and Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) in the past, which was the goal the protest movement had set for itself," Continue the Change Chair Assen Vassilev said to reporters. From now on, we have a lot of work ahead of us, Vassilev added.
On behalf of the Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria coalition, he thanked all Bulgarian citizens who came out and voted. "As a sportsman, it would be best to congratulate the winner - Rumen Radev," Vassilev said.
Democratic Bulgaria Co-chair Ivaylo Mirchev said that "based on the preliminary results, the [DPS leader Delyan] Peevski - [GERB leader Boyko] Borissov bloc will not have 80 seats in the next National Assembly. This means there is a possibility to replace the Supreme Judicial Council and the Prosecutor General." He thanked the caretaker government and the Interior Ministry for their efforts to ensure fair elections.
Democrats for Strong Bulgaria leader Atanas Atanasov said, "I thank Bulgarian citizens for the high voter turnout. The CC-DB coalition will be the guarantor of Bulgaria’s European path."
