GERB leader Boyko Borissov, in a Facebook post, following the announcement of the first results from polling agencies on the early parliamentary elections, thanked voters for their support for the party and congratulated the election winner. GERB would not take part in coalitions or alliances that compromise its principles, he added.

"Thank you for every vote for GERB. Congratulations to the winner! The situation is clear to us, and we recognized it as soon as the [PM Rosen] Zhelyazkov cabinet resigned. No coalitions and no unprincipled alliances! Winning the election is one thing, governing is quite another. Elections decide who comes in first, but negotiations will decide who governs. GERB can function both in government and in opposition. And in politics, just as in life, patience is needed," the post said.
