BTA will publish the names of the top-of-the-list candidates of every party/coalition for all constituencies for the April 19 parliamentary elections. The information about the candidates is provided by the respective political entity, the candidates themselves and other official sources.

Pavel Popov is the top-of-the-list candidate of Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria for Varna’s 3rd multi-member constituency, the coalition press service said here Thursday.

Popov is deputy mayor of Varna Municipality in charge of Education and Culture. He was born in Varna in 1972. He graduated from the First Language School of Varna and holds a master’s degree in philosophy from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. He was a Fulbright scholar in the doctoral programme of The New School in New York and a visiting researcher at the University of Cologne. He is co-founder and a member of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Phenomenological Association.

He was deputy regional governor of Varna Region and a candidate for member of the European Parliament from Democratic Bulgaria. After the arrest of Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev in July 2025, he performed his duties as mayor of the municipality for nearly five months.
