The reduction in gas oil excise duty for farmers will be set at EUR 0.31 per liter, Agriculture Minister Ivan Hristanov told journalists on Wednesday. He added that this will provide direct support to fuel users in the agricultural sector in the amount of an additional EUR 27.3 million, to be paid for 2025. Until now, the amount received by farmers was EUR 0.21 per liter. Final approval is expected from the Ministry of Finance, but according to Hristanov, preliminary data indicate that this will be possible.

The Agriculture Minister also said that the results of the campaign for clean food so far are extremely positive, with at least two critical elements observed. The first is increased trust from producers and recognized operators, who see that the gray market, which had previously undercut them, is beginning to disappear. Additionally, recent inspections have shown that large volumes of expired food are being prepared for disposal rather than for sale.

The Minister expressed satisfaction that the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has shown “its true face and its full capacity.”

Regarding food prices ahead of Easter, the Agriculture Minister stressed that the market is being monitored to prevent speculative increases. According to him, there are no conditions for a general increase in food product prices.
