Haskovo has the potential to become the economic engine of Southern Bulgaria, Tsveta Kirilova, top-of-the-list candidate of Blue Bulgaria in Haskovo, said, according to the coalition's campaign headquarters.

One step toward achieving this goal could be the establishment of an innovative hybrid branch of major national universities in Haskovo. This would provide broad educational opportunities for the local community, including vocational training programmes tailored to the needs of local businesses. “We are proposing policies for the region’s economic development that will motivate and retain young people,” Kirilova said.

Another key initiative is the introduction of educational programmes in schools focused on addiction prevention through healthy lifestyles, she said, noting that the Haskovo region is a major crossroads for drug trafficking in Bulgaria and the EU. 

Kirilova also stressed the need to implement a unified system for preventing and combating corruption and fraud.
