The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will mobilize all its resources, supporters, and members of section election commissions to safeguard every vote that is cast honestly and in accordance with the voter’s will, BSP leader Krum Zarkov said after registering the BSP–United Left candidate list for Sofia's 24th multi-member constituency, where he is the top-of-the-list candidate, ahead of the April 19 parliamentary elections.

Asked whether he believes the elections can be fair, Zarkov said it depends on many factors, including the institutions and the political parties themselves. “We must never forget that whenever there is someone selling their vote, there is someone else buying it,” he added.

Asked about BSP’s chances of entering the next Parliament, Zarkov expressed full confidence. “I believe the BSP will play a very significant role in the next National Assembly, including in ensuring that Bulgaria finally has a stable, competent, and honest government,” he said. He also highlighted potential partnerships with other political forces, civil society organizations, and left-leaning socially engaged citizens.

“We are going into the elections with confidence and a willingness to help, because we know how to do it so that Bulgaria can become a fairer country - with guaranteed and equal access to education, healthcare, social, municipal, and administrative services, nurseries and kindergartens, and access to justice - a country that Bulgarians finally deserve,” Zarkov said.
