The European Union currently has no problems with energy supplies, but prices and the situation could deteriorate further, said European Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jorgensen ahead of Monday’s meeting of EU energy ministers in Brussels.

The EU is not as dependent on imports from the region but does have a problem with energy prices, he added regarding the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. In his words, today's situation is better than that in 2022, thanks to the additional sources of renewable energy introduced in the meantime and the diversification of energy supplies. He urged the acceleration of permits for renewable energy development in the EU.

It is very important for the EU to adhere to the decisions made to halt imports of Russian fuels so as not to indirectly finance the war in Ukraine, Jorgensen said.
