The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry has issued a travel advisory for Cuba. The travel risk has been heightened to Level 4, with warning for discontinuing travel across the country unless vitally important, said the Ministry crisis centre Wednesday.
Bulgarians are strongly advised to avoid tourist travel to Cuba.
The Ministry says that Cuba is faced with a worsening energy crisis, including blackouts, fuel shortage, disruptions in health care and public transport.
Commercial flights to Cuba are still being performed but that is likely to change due to the shortage of aviation fuel, the Ministry says. Also, hotels may shut down and the transfer of tourists will be difficult. Air carriers are revising their schedules frequently and Bulgarians are advised to check regularly the information about the status of their flights and stay in touch with the tour operators. Also, people should secure vital resources (water, food, medicines) and keep their devices charged. They must avoid places with large crowds and follow the instructions of the local authorities.
