Continue the Change leader Assen Vassilev said that he expects the National Assembly to approve the budget extension bill. Vassilev was speaking on Bulgarian National Radio on Sunday.

“This concerns literally four paragraphs, there is nothing controversial,” Vassilev said. “I do not think GERB wants to block key payments in the middle of the election campaign,” he added. According to Vassilev, the draft can be adopted quickly and should be passed before the Parliament dissolves ahead of the election campaign.

Parliament's Budget and Finance Committee was scheduled on Thursday to consider a draft legislation amending a budget extension bill, submitted by the caretaker Government, but the session was cancelled. This would be the second budget extension bill for 2026 due to the absence of an adopted regular annual budget. The current extension is set to remain in force until March 31.
