Anna Prancheva Receives 2026 Young Researcher Award for Polymer Science

Anna Prancheva, a researcher of the Institute of Polymers at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences has received the 2026 Prof. Ivan Shopov Award for outstanding young scientist in polymers, the Union of Chemists in Bulgaria announced Thursday. It was the 23rd edition of the competition.

Prancheva was honored for her 2025 paper in the Journal of Polymer Science, describing new nanocomplexes based on cationic polymer micelles and the enzyme serratiopeptidase, coated with hyaluronic acid. She works in the institute’s Functional and Nanostructured Polymers Laboratory and has co-authored five international publications.

A certificate for meritorious performance was also presented to Krum Alexandrov for his study on thermosensitive niosomes for targeted anticancer drug delivery, published in Pharmaceuticals. In 2025, he presented his research at seven scientific forums and received three best presentation awards.
