Bulgaria’s National Day and the 148th anniversary of the Liberation of Bulgaria were marked at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Sofia, where the national flag was ceremonially raised on Tuesday.

Among those attending the official ceremony were caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov, caretaker Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov, Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov, representatives of the senior command of the Bulgarian Armed Forces, Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil, Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev and other guests.

Representatives of the National Guards Unit also took part in the ceremonial ritual. During the performance of the national anthem, 20 artillery salutes were fired.
