An orange weather code alerts for heavy rain and snowfall has been issued for Saturday for nine regions in Bulgaria, according to the website of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.

The warning applies to the regions of Kardzhali, Haskovo, Stara Zagora and Gabrovo, as well as to parts of Plovdiv, Yambol, Smolyan, Veliko Tarnovo and Sliven.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology has also issued a yellow code alert for rain and snowfall for the regions of Pazardzhik, Lovech, Pleven, Ruse, Targovishte, Silistra, Dobrich, Varna, Razgrad and Shumen, as well as for some settlements in the regions of Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, Sliven and Smolyan.

The Road Infrastructure Agency reported on Saturday morning that traffic for heavy goods vehicles with trailers and semi-trailers is being restricted through the Rozhen Pass and the Prevala Pass due to snowfall and ongoing snow-clearing operations.
