site.btaWarning for Significant Rainfall Issued for 14 Regions of Bulgaria on Thursday
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has issued a warning for January 29 for significant rainfall (orange code) in the regions of Blagoevgrad, Smolyan, Kardzhali, Haskovo, Sliven, and Burgas. A yellow code has been issued for the regions of Kyustendil, Sofia, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Sliven, Shumen, and Varna.
According to the NIMH weather forecast, on Thursday the country will be under the influence of a Mediterranean cyclone. By evening, rainfall will cover almost the entire country. Significant amounts of rain will fall in Southern Bulgaria. Thunderstorms are also possible in the southeastern regions. There will be almost no precipitation in Northwestern Bulgaria. Highs will be between 7C and 12C, slightly higher in Eastern Bulgaria, and around 7C in Sofia.
The Black Sea coast will be mostly cloudy with rain, which will begin around noon in the south and cover the entire coast by the end of Thursday evening.
