Due to strike actions on Greek territory, the passage of light and heavy vehicles through all border crossings with Greece may be disrupted, according to information by the Border Police as of 6 am on Thursday.
As of 12 pm on Thursday, the passage of heavy goods vehicles through the Promachonas border crossing will be suspended in both directions for 48 hours.
The Kapitan Petko Voyvoda border crossing will also be closed to traffic in both directions for all types of motor vehicles (freight and passenger cars, buses) starting at 9 am on Thursday.
Protesting Greek farmers plan to organize a 48-hour blockade of key road arteries in the country and of border checkpoints, including those with Bulgaria, on January 8 and 9, 2026, the Foreign Ministry reported on its website on Wednesday evening.
Traffic at border crossing with the North Macedonia and Turkiye is normal.
At 00.30 am, the Vrashka Chuka checkpoint received a phone call from the duty officer at the Serbian border checkpoint stating that, as of 00.30 am, the passage of freight vehicles has been suspended due to adverse weather conditions and icy road surfaces, the Border Police reported.
At the border with Romania, at 4 am on Thursday, due to strong wind gusts, the Oryahovo–Bechet ferry temporarily suspended operations. The platform is located on Bulgarian territory, the Border Police said.
Renovation works on the Danube Bridge near Ruse resumes on Thursday.
