Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov set out what he described as three possible scenarios for Bulgaria in a social media post, the party’s press service said on Thursday.

Kostadinov linked the scenarios to the period after the March elections and framed the choice as one between his party and its opponents, using the labels “sovereignists”, “mafiosi” and “janissaries”.

He outlined three hypothetical post-election outcomes, centring on voter turnout and the ability of parties to form a government.

In the first scenario, he projected high turnout and a Vazrazhdane victory, followed by moves to restore the Bulgarian lev and pursue legal action in Luxembourg against the European Commission over Bulgaria’s entry into the euro area, alongside claims for substantial damages and wider political fallout in EU institutions.

In the second, he described low turnout in which Vazrazhdane still finishes first but cannot govern alone, while other parties fail to form a coalition, leading to fresh elections in July that he predicts his party would win by a large margin.

In the third, he again assumed low turnout, with Vazrazhdane finishing second and Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) forming a coalition with GERB and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF). He claimed this would trigger a severe financial crisis, protests and business failures, and he suggested a candidate aligned with his camp would ultimately win the presidential election in October.

Kostadinov argued that time was working in his party’s favour, invoked the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising, and urged voters to mobilize behind Vazrazhdane, saying it was ready to govern.
