During an operation at the Kapikule border crossing on the Turkish-Bulgarian border, Turkish customs officers seized a shipment of over 23 kg of skunk, a potent form of cannabis, which was being smuggled into Turkiye.
According to the Turkish online media Haberler, the drugs were found in a vehicle registered abroad that arrived at the Kapikule customs office from the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing point.
An X-ray inspection of the car revealed unregistered cargo and based on this finding, the teams conducted a thorough inspection of the vehicle, which included a dog trained to detect drugs. Packages containing a total of 23.82 kg of skunk were found in a hidden compartment under the car seat.
The driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested by the police and handed over to the court, which ordered his arrest pending trial for drug trafficking.
