“We protect all people, we work for all people,” MRF-New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski told journalists in Parliament on Friday. “I will not allow anyone to divide the people,” he said.

In response to a question about the accusation from Continue the Change–Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) that MRF-New Beginning is waging a war on the middle class with this budget, Peevski asked: “And who is dividing people into classes?” He added that there will be no classes because all people are equal.

“And they should thank the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association for organizing the protest for them,” the leader of MRF-New Beginning further said.

A protest against the adoption of the budget was organized on Wednesday evening in front of the National Assembly building by CC-DB, with support from other political formations. The Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association  had also called for protests against the draft 2026 budget.

The draft budget for 2026 will be revised in dialogue with the trade unions and employers, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said on the day after the protest, in a statement to the media in Parliament and following discussions with government partners.
