Unemployment in Turkiye in the third quarter of 2025 remained at its previous level of 8.5%, the Turkish Statistical Institute reported on Tuesday. Although the rate stayed the same, the Institute’s data shows that unemployment fell by 26,000 people in the July–September period. According to the figures, 3.1 million Turkish citizens remained outside the labour market.
Unemployment in Turkiye affects men more than women - 11.2% among men and 7% among women.
The number of employed people in the country has reached 32.5 million. A total of 66.2% of men and 32.1% of women were in work, while the labour force has increased by 39,000 people compared with the previous quarter, reaching 35.6 million.
Despite the slight decline in the number of unemployed people in the country, youth unemployment remained high. Among those aged 15–24, it stood at 15.3% – 11.7% among men and 21.8% among women.
Due to the summer season, which covers the third quarter, the statistics record an increase in the working day by 24 minutes. According to the data, during this period Turkish citizens had a 42.5-hour working week.
