Parliament Thursday voted 128–59, with no abstentions, to override President Rumen Radev’s veto on amendments to the Act on Administrative Regulation of Economic Activities Associated with Oil and Petroleum Products, which expand the powers of a future special administrator who will oversee the Bulgarian assets of Lukoil. The revisions were therefore re-adopted.
Parliament had initially approved the amendments in two readings during a single sitting on November 7, but President Radev vetoed them on Wednesday.
Ahead of Thursday’s vote, the Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) parliamentary group called for a quorum check to be conducted by reading out the MPs’ names and having them stand up, but the majority rejected the proposal.
