A round table titled “Volunteerism in Bulgaria – Can the State Support Volunteers?” will take place at the Council of Ministers at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, the government said in a press release. The event will be unveiled by Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov. The initiative comes from the Council for the Development of Civil Society (CDCS), chaired by Zafirov.
The aim is to bring together representatives of civil society organizations, institutions, and active volunteers to discuss attitudes, challenges, and opportunities related to the adoption and implementation of a future Volunteer Promotion Act. The discussion will also seek to promote the idea of establishing an effective regulatory framework to encourage and support volunteer initiatives across the country.
CDCS includes 14 non-governmental organizations.
In September, the Council began drafting a strategy to support the development of civil society organizations in Bulgaria.
