Sofia, April 25 (BTA) - The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed
in Bulgaria has reached 1,247, including 614 men and 633 women,
the government press service said on Saturday afternoon, quoting
 the National Coronavirus Task Force.
There are six new cases of medical staff infected with the
coronavirus, five of them in Vidin and one in Sofia, bringing
the number of medics who have the virus to 135.
A total of 197 patients in the country have recovered from
COVID-19. Fifty-five have died. An 81-year-old man passed away
at Sofia's Military Medical Academy on Saturday.
Health Minister Kiril Ananiev issued an order permitting the
export of analgin-chinin (metamizole sodium 200 mg, quinine
hydrochloride 50 mg). With this order, posted on the Health
Ministry's website, Ananiev reversed his March 20 decision to
ban the export of quinine-based medicines until further notice.
The reversal is based on the fact that Bulgaria now has a
stockpile of such medication which is enough to meet demand in
the country's hospitals. An unnecessarily large stockpile would
inflict financial losses on both producers and hospitals. NV/VE
