During Its Term Parliament Adopted 336 Laws and 392 Decisions
Sofia, January 27 (BTA) - During its term the 43rd National Assembly adopted 336 laws, 392 decisions and 3 statements and declaration, according to a report of Parliament's Press Centre and Parliament's Legal Directorate covering the period from October 27, 2014 to January 26, 2017.
A total of 296 plenary meetings were held in the period under review, of which 22 were extraordinary. As many as 708 bills were submitted. The draft decisions were 413 and the draft statements and declarations - 31.
A total of 4,083 questions and 262 inquiries were submitted during the period under review. Question time took place within 99 sittings and quick question time - in 21 sittings. The parliamentary time used for the exercise of the MPs' control function was 293 hours and 40 minutes.
The highest number of questions was addressed at Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Liliana Pavlova - 425, Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov - 414, Interior Minister Roumyana Buchvarova with 389, Minister of Agriculture and Foods Dessislava Taneva - 289, Health Minister Peter Moskov - 235, Minister of Environment and Water Ivelina Vassileva - 184, Energy Minister Temenouzhka Petkova - 179, Defence Minister Nikolai Nenchev - 149, Minister of Transport, IT and Technologies - 147 and Culture Minister Vezhdi Rashidov - 138.
The national representatives, who asked the highest number of questions were: Peter Slavov /489/, Martin Dimitrov /333/, Valentin Pavlov /202/, Metodi Andreev /201/, Svetoslav Belemezov /185/, Villy Lilkov /159/, Nastimir Ananiev /153/, Slavi Binev /110/, Svetla Buchvarova /106/ and Velizar Enchev /91/.
The 43rd National Assembly has exercised control over the operation of two cabinets - of caretaker Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki in the period from October 27 to November 7, 2014 and of Prime Minister Boyko Broissov from November 7, 2014 to January 25, 2017.
The highest number of questions and inquires were submitted by the parliamentary group of the Reformist Bloc - 1,222 questions and 48 inquiries, followed by BSP-Left Bulgaria with 1,161 questions and 71 inquiries, GERB - 432 questions and 21 inquiries, ABV - 342 questions and 35 inquiries, the Patriotic Front - 302 questions and 54 inquiries, Ataka - 284 questions and 8 inquiries, Bulgarian Democratic Centre - Popular Union - 198 questions and 14 inquiries and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms - 157 questions and 10 inquiries. Non-affilitated MPs submitted a total of 131 questions and 5 inquiries.
275 questions were asked within quick question time.
One motion for a no-confidence vote in the Cabinet was submitted during the year and it was over the incumbents' policy in healthcare. The motion was submitted on February 17, 2016 and was put to the vote on February 19 the same year. It was unsuccessful.
