A total of 640 contracts worth over EUR 694.4 million have been concluded in the Stara Zagora region under European programs for the period 2021–2027, according to data updated as of August 14 and presented by the Stara Zagora Regional Information Centre during a working meeting with the media, at which opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises under the Introduction of Green Technologies in SMEs procedure were also presented.
The total amount of grant funding agreed under these projects is over EUR 471 million. The procedure has a total budget of EUR 82.99 million and aims to support investments in green technologies, more efficient use of resources, waste reduction, and the introduction of circular production and consumption models. Eligible applicants include micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises that are registered traders or cooperatives, were established no later than December 31, 2023, and must also meet the SME annual average net sales revenue criteria.
The procedure provides funding of up to 70% for micro and small enterprises and 60% for medium-sized enterprises under regional aid, while the maximum rate is 70% for all SMEs under de minimis. Mandatory investments must introduce green technologies supporting circular production and consumption, including better waste management, more efficient use of raw materials and water, reduced packaging, and sustainable products and services. Applications can be submitted until 16:30 on November 10, 2026, with each applicant allowed to submit one proposal. Projects must be completed within 12 months of the administrative contract taking effect.
