Conductor Pavel Balev and concertmasters Anna Furnadzhieva and Krasimir Shterev of the Varna State Opera orchestra received Phoenix Аwards at the opening concert of the 25th Easter Music Festival, the Theatre and Music Production Centre in Varna said. The awards were presented by director Daniela Dimova and mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Varna State Symphony Orchestra in April 1946.

Pavel Balev was recognized for his work in leading and developing the orchestra, as well as for his conducting approach and interpretations. Furnadzhieva received the award for her performances as a soloist and her role as concertmaster across the opera’s productions and festival appearances. Shterev was honored for his solo work and his contribution as concertmaster in the orchestra’s activities and festival participation.

According to the institution, the awards highlight the three musicians’ roles in the orchestra’s work and its presence at national music festivals, including Varna Summer, Opera in the Summer Theatre, and March Music Days.
