site.btaSofia Mayor Accepts Resignation of Chief Architect, Appoints Interim Successor

Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev said he has accepted the resignation of Chief Architect Bogdana Panayotova, effective 6 January. Panayotova tendered her resignation earlier in the day.

Boyan Nedev will serve as interim chief architect to ensure continuity in the municipality’s work and ongoing administrative processes, the Mayor said. Nedev is an architect by training and has to this day headed a department in the architecture and urban planning unit of the City Hall.

The mayor said the city’s focus remains on its long-term urban development reform agenda, including the creation of an Infrastructure Development Fund, legislative and regulatory changes to curb overdevelopment, and a new approach to urban planning that links construction with traffic, social infrastructure, green spaces, and overall urban environment quality.
