A primary school in Lukovit will work on an international project entitled Green Heroes for a Better Future under the Erasmus + programme, School Director Genoveva Tsvetkova told BTA on Thursday.

The project is aimed at developing environmental education through effective use of the STEM environment and aims to form green skills, a responsible attitude and an ecological culture in students. The main emphasis is on building knowledge, attitudes and behavior related to nature conservation, sustainable use of resources and the fight against climate change, Tsvetkova pointed out.

The main activities of the project include integrating environmental topics into the curriculum and promoting an interdisciplinary approach to learning, improving the qualifications of teachers through training, cooperation with experts and access to current resources related to green skills and sustainable development, as well as involving students in initiatives and projects that motivate them to actively participate in environmental protection and apply what they have learned in real situations.

Tsvetkova emphasized the project will create opportunities for students and teachers to participate in international activities, exchange experiences and explore different approaches to environmental education. A short study visit to Hungary is also planned, in which, in addition to teachers, four children will be included from the school, in which children from vulnerable groups make up 90% of all students. "Working on projects has a positive impact on them, they are motivated to learn English because it is the working language, and they do very well with it, they feel significant, Tsvetkova noted.

The funding of the project is over EUR 17,000 and the duration is 14 months.
