The far-right Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) would be the most supported party among Romanian voters in potential parliamentary elections, although its popularity has declined slightly, according to a poll by the INSCOP polling agency released on Monday. The party would receive 38% of the vote if elections were held next Sunday.
The poll was conducted on a sample of 1,100 respondents between March 2 and 6.
The AUR would be followed by the Social Democratic Party with 19.2%, the National Liberal Party with 14.5%, and the Save Romania Union with 11.4%.
Around 4% would vote for the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania; 3.6% would choose the Health, Education, Nature, Sustainability Party; 3.3% would vote for S.O.S. Romania; and 3% choose the Party of Young People.
Remus Stefureac, the head of INSCOP, pointed out that the AUR failed to retain its previous level of popularity, which used to be 41%.
When asked whether they would vote if elections were to be held on Sunday, 64.5% said they would definitely go to the polls, while 16.2% said they would not vote.
